He had to travel halfway around the world to do it, but now Nick Johnson can lay claim to being the first to catch all 145 Pokémon currently available in the wild.
The 28-year-old New Yorker was the first person to catch all 142 Pokémon in North America a few weeks ago, and that caught the eye of Marriott Rewards and Expedia who then sponsored a round-the-world trip for Johnson to catch the remaining region exclusive monsters.
Johnson was flown to Paris for Mr Mime, Hong Kong for Farfetched and Sydney for Kangaskhan to complete his Pokédex, before heading to Tokyo – the home of Pokémon.
It should be noted that you can technically get all available Pokémon in all regions through eggs, but not all are available in the wild, such as Tauros being a North American exclusive. Update: New evidence suggests some Pokemon are indeed region locked.
The remaining six that make up the original 151 Pokémon, Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Mew, Mewtwo, and Ditto are all yet to be release. Well, officially anyway.
