Niantic pulling legendary Pokémon from user accounts

Earlier this week trainers got their first glimpse of legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go, today Niantic has removed them from players’ accounts. A statement from Niantic was issued to IGN confirming the appearance of legendary Pokémon accidentally appearing in the game before they “rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the Trainers’ accounts”.

Reddit user kaitcovey, real name Kaitlyn Covey, claimed to have owned the Articuno, going so far as to streamed a video on Twitch alongside her husband showing the legendary bird in action. Though her initial claims of Niantic “gifting” her the bird appear to be fabricated Niantic’s admission of the error does give veracity to Kaitlyn at least owning it at one point.

Few believed Kait’s claims of the bird being gifted, but the fact remains that new glitches in Pokémon Go are doing strange things to Pokémon, including captured Pokémon transforming, means nobody can say for sure this glitch won’t rear its head again.
