Update adds Team Leader appraisal of your Pokémon

The semi-regular updates for Pokémon Go keep on coming with version 0.35.0 for Android out now and 1.5.0 for iOS coming soon. The update promises to restrict cheaters using bots even more and adds a new feature that allows players to have their Pokémon evaluated by their Team Leader.

Candela of Team Valor, Blanche of Team Mystic and Spark of Team Instinct can now be called upon to tell you if your Pokémon is suitable for battling in Gyms by appraising its IV range.

What is IV range?

The Pokémon series has used IVs since the very first game. In short IV is the Individual Value of a Pokémon that determines its hidden strength. Say you catch two Pidgeys that are both CP 50, even if you can’t see it there’s a good chance one has greater potential for battling than the other. The new Appraise feature will now tell you directly if your Pokémon is worth your time using in Gym battles.

IV’s are ranked from 1 to 15, with 1 being the worst and 15 being the best. Pokémon Go has three stats it uses to evaluate a Pokémon – Attack, HP and Defense. Other factors come into play too, such as what attacks your Pokémon know, but having a good IV is key if you want to raise a strong fighting Pokémon.

On the Pokémon stats screen tap the menu button (the three lines button on the bottom right) and then tap Appraisal to begin. Below is all the possible things a team leader will say to you and how to interpret them. (Source: GamePress.gg)
